For young learners, educational opportunities can be found everywhere in daily life. Playing is an essential part of a child's development as it helps young children's brains develop and their language and communication skills to mature.

Besides brain, language and communication development, playing also sparks creative thinking, promotes impulse control and emotion regulation, and grows social competence and empathy.

Driven by our mission to make learning fun and relevant for our young children, our experienced academic team curated a series of mini-master classes. This series provides positive early learning experiences that encourage children to explore and discover, question and create, instilling a lifelong love of learning in them. These positive moments, coupled with a nurturing environment, are crucial in the formative years when children's first encounters at school can shape their future attitude towards learning.

Each mini-master class is introduced at age-appropriate stages from 18 months to 6 years to increase exposure to multiple areas of interest and nurture their budding passions.

Musical Gym

Exposure to music during early childhood strengthens the connection between the body and the brain, helping children speak more clearly, develop a more extensive vocabulary, and enhance their social and emotional skills. In addition, the incorporation of a gym further increases movement and physical activity during the lesson, building young children's muscle strength, self-confidence, concentration, and coordination.

During Musical Gym, our Playgroup and Nursery 1 students move and groove to different beats, tones, and rhythms. For example, they may be somersaulting to rock songs in one lesson and practising Yoga poses while listening to classical pieces the next. The programme encompasses a wide range of activities and music genres, expanding the children's appreciation for different cultures and developing social, cognitive, and emotional skills.

Happy Little Notes

Happy Little Notes builds on the solid foundation set in the earlier music and movement programmes. It is an intermediate music and movement programme anchored by our Mandarin teachers for Kindergarten 1 and 2 students. This programme is inspired by Carl Orff Music, a world-renowned music programme used in education. Happy Little Notes focuses on five main concepts: Rhythm, Games, Drama, Singing and Musical Instruments. Through this programme, students develop an interest in music, increase their concentration and coordination, and learn how to work together to compose and present a musical performance. They will also deepen their understanding of musical expression with more complex musical arrangements.

Move It! Move It!

Move It! Move It! is an introductory music and movement programme anchored by our Mandarin teachers for our Nursery 2 students. Students will be exposed to the rudiments of music, explore rhythm and soundscapes with various instruments, and express their interpretation through physical expression.

English Speech & Drama

Our dynamic and passionate Speech and Drama teachers, who are all positive language models, guide students towards achieving speech clarity and vocal expression as they introduce poems, rhymes, stories and speech exercises in class. Classes for students from Nursery 1 to Kindergarten 2 are filled with energy, enthusiasm and creativity to encourage them to explore the full potential of their budding imagination.

Teachers use a variety of literature as a springboard to adventures in Drama Land, where students tap on their communication skills and work as a team to think creatively to find a happy ending for all the characters they will meet. Children work in a nurturing environment to build their confidence and boost their vocal skills through performance and play. In drama, the children's only limit is their imagination!

Chinese Arts & Culture

In this mini-master class for students from Playgroup to Kindergarten 2, our Mandarin teachers introduce a wide variety of Chinese literature, celebrations, craft, cuisine and traditions. As a result, our young learners will grow to appreciate more of the Chinese language and culture, building an interest in Mandarin and honing their conversational skills when they apply their understanding during these interactive lessons.

Designed for Playgroup to Nursery 2, this mini-master class focuses on a multisensory approach that sparks the children's curiosity. By being involved in hands-on learning, children will experiment with and explore their surroundings, realising the importance of using their five senses to investigate the surrounding environment.

 Phonics Programmes to Provide a Head Start In Reading, Writing and Spelling in Early Childhood

Fun with Phonics

Our Fun with Phonics class is a unique English Enrichment programme designed to give students from Nursery 2 to Kindergarten 2 a head start with reading, writing and spelling. Fun with Phonics is taught by our Lorna Whiston English Enrichment teachers in a fun way using multisensory activities. Puppets, puzzles, stories, songs, rhymes, art and craft activities and phonic games all regularly feature, ensuring that our children learn phonics effectively and enjoyably.

There are three distinct levels in the Fun with Phonics programme - Ready!, Steady!, and Go! Teachers will match students according to their levels to ensure that a clear grasp of each level is established, thereby setting a firm foundation for building more advanced language skills.

Art Studio

Art Studio is a unique art appreciation programme for Kindergarten 1 and 2 students. Students are introduced to a brief study of art history as they study the elements, media and methods used in the creative process. While the programme aims to contribute to students' artistic and creative development, it also develops their perceptual, cognitive, academic, and social-emotional competencies. As students progress from Art Studio 1 to Art Studio 2, they will learn about the work of famous artists around the world and have fun experimenting and exploring with different materials and mediums. Once the students have the knowledge and skills, they will be empowered to create their very own masterpieces.

Little Chef

The Little Chef programme aims to engage our playgroup students with hands-on cookery experiences. In the process of cooking, the children learn and practice basic math concepts, build language skills, strengthen their hand-eye coordination and develop their fine motor skills. In addition, the experience of creating healthy meals can also help develop their self-confidence and lay the foundation of healthy eating habits from a young age.
